Flexible SEBS-based TPE compounds for cable mechanical parts - jacketing, strain reliefs, grommets, and plug boots. Overmouldable onto rigid inserts. Electrical and compliance-critical use needs qualification to the relevant standard.

OUR MISSION
We engineer flexible, recyclable TPE compounds for cable mechanical parts, matched to your hardness and processing requirements.
Suggested FARRPRENE compounds for this sector, matched by hardness and processing. Open a grade for its full datasheet.
| GRADE | HARDNESS | TYPE | TENSILE | TYPICAL USE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FARRPRENE IU450A | 45 Shore A | Injection / Unfilled | 4 MPa | Soft, flexible strain reliefs and cable boots |
| FARRPRENE IF701AS | 70 Shore A | Injection / Filled | 5 MPa | Strain reliefs and connector overmoulds |
Note: Mechanical fit only (flexible accessories, not the conductor insulation). Flame-retardant, halogen-free and electrical performance require a separately qualified grade - contact us.

OVERVIEW
In wire and cable assemblies, thermoplastic elastomers are used for the flexible accessories around the conductor: strain reliefs, connector boots, grommets and overmoulded plug bodies. These parts must bend repeatedly at the cable exit without splitting and must grip the jacket without cutting into it. FARRPRENE supplies compounds across the soft-to-firm range used for those accessories. Conductor insulation and jacketing themselves are a separate class of compound with electrical and flame requirements that the published catalogue does not characterise.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Typical Shore A bands by part type. Selection guidance, not a specification - confirm against your own duty cycle. Rigid Shore D grades are a separate range.
| PART TYPE | TYPICAL BAND | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| Soft, highly flexible strain reliefs | 35-50 Shore A | Bends through a tight radius at the cable exit without kinking the conductor. |
| Overmoulded plug boots and grommets | 55-70 Shore A | Holds the moulded form and grips the jacket while still flexing. |
| Connector overmoulds and strain reliefs | 65-75 Shore A | Resists pull-out and abrasion at the connector interface. |
| Firm cable accessories and structural parts | 75-85 Shore A | Retains shape under mechanical load and repeated handling. |
