OVERVIEW
Farrprene IU250A is an ultra-soft, gel-like compound for cushioning, vibration damping and anatomical soft-touch surfaces. Supplied as a translucent unfilled grade optimised for injection-moulding, it pairs the soft-touch feel of rubber with the clean, fast processing of a thermoplastic - no curing, fully re-meltable scrap.
The grade delivers a tensile strength of 4 MPa, elongation at break of >800%, and a specific gravity of 0.890. Its high melt flow (MFI 67 g/10 min at 190°C/5 kg) fills thin-wall and complex injection geometries with short cycle times. UV Stabilized · Heat Stabilized.
This is a SEBS-based compound. SEBS is the hydrogenated form of SBS: removing the double bonds from the mid-block gives it substantially better resistance to UV, heat and oxidation, which is why it is the usual choice for parts that see sunlight, warm service or a long design life.
At 179 g/10 min (230°C/5 kg) it is a high-flow injection grade, suited to thin walls, long flow paths and short cycles. Its specific gravity of 0.890 is typical of an unfilled compound, which gives more parts per kilogram and the cleanest colour reproduction.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Vibration damping and acoustic isolation
- Soft-touch grips and ergonomic cushioning
- Resistance and exercise bands
- Automotive interior trim, NVH and sealing components
- Household goods, handles and seals
PROCESSING
- Runs on standard injection-moulding equipment; pre-drying is generally not required for unfilled grades.
- Unfilled formulation for the cleanest surface finish and colourability.
- Heat-stabilised: the additive package is intended to limit degradation during processing and repeated re-melting of regrind.
- UV-stabilised for components exposed to sunlight. Real service life depends on exposure, colour and section thickness, so qualify an outdoor part against its actual duty cycle.
- SEBS-based: the hydrogenated backbone gives better UV, thermal and oxidative stability than an SBS compound.
- Colour-matchable and re-processable - production scrap can be re-melted and reused.
