OVERVIEW
Farrprene EF456A is a soft, highly flexible compound for seals, grips and tactile overmoulds. Supplied as a natural filled grade optimised for extrusion, it pairs the soft-touch feel of rubber with the clean, fast processing of a thermoplastic - no curing, fully re-meltable scrap.
The grade delivers a tensile strength of 7 MPa, elongation at break of >800%, and a specific gravity of 1.000. Its low melt flow (MFI 1.4 g/10 min at 190°C/5 kg) provides the melt strength needed for stable profile and sheet extrusion. Heat Stabilized.
This is a SEBS-based compound. SEBS is the hydrogenated form of SBS: removing the double bonds from the mid-block gives it substantially better resistance to UV, heat and oxidation, which is why it is the usual choice for parts that see sunlight, warm service or a long design life.
At 1.8 g/10 min (230°C/5 kg) it sits at the stiffer end of the extrusion range, holding profile geometry well between the die and the cooling line. Its specific gravity of 1.000 reflects the mineral filler loading, which is what buys the dimensional stability and cost position of a filled grade.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Flexible seals, gaskets and bellows
- Soft-touch overmoulds and tactile grips
- Flexible tubing and protective profiles
- Construction profiles, gaskets and weatherstripping
- Automotive interior trim, NVH and sealing components
PROCESSING
- Suited to profile, sheet and tube extrusion lines with conventional single-screw setups.
- Filled formulation tuned for cost-efficiency and dimensional stability.
- Heat-stabilised: the additive package is intended to limit degradation during processing and repeated re-melting of regrind.
- SEBS-based: the hydrogenated backbone gives better UV, thermal and oxidative stability than an SBS compound.
- Colour-matchable and re-processable - production scrap can be re-melted and reused.
