OVERVIEW
Farrprene EF820A is a firm, hard-wearing compound for structural flexible parts, seals and bushings. Supplied as a natural filled grade optimised for extrusion, it pairs the soft-touch feel of rubber with the clean, fast processing of a thermoplastic - no curing, fully re-meltable scrap.
The grade delivers a tensile strength of 10 MPa, elongation at break of >650%, and a specific gravity of 1.180. A balanced melt flow (MFI 5 g/10 min at 190°C/5 kg) suits a wide processing window. Heat Stabilized · Silky Touch.
This is a SEBS-based compound. SEBS is the hydrogenated form of SBS: removing the double bonds from the mid-block gives it substantially better resistance to UV, heat and oxidation, which is why it is the usual choice for parts that see sunlight, warm service or a long design life.
At 9.5 g/10 min (230°C/5 kg) it flows more freely than a typical extrusion grade, which helps on complex dies but leaves less melt strength for tall unsupported sections. Its specific gravity of 1.180 reflects the mineral filler loading, which is what buys the dimensional stability and cost position of a filled grade.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Structural flexible parts and snap-fit components
- Hard-wearing seals, bushings and grommets
- Profiles and trim requiring shape retention
- Consumer products, soft-touch overmoulds and grips
- Construction profiles, gaskets and weatherstripping
PROCESSING
- Suited to profile, sheet and tube extrusion lines with conventional single-screw setups.
- Filled formulation tuned for cost-efficiency and dimensional stability.
- Heat-stabilised: the additive package is intended to limit degradation during processing and repeated re-melting of regrind.
- Silky-touch surface: formulated for a low-friction, non-tacky feel on visible and hand-contact surfaces.
- SEBS-based: the hydrogenated backbone gives better UV, thermal and oxidative stability than an SBS compound.
- Colour-matchable and re-processable - production scrap can be re-melted and reused.
