OVERVIEW
Farrprene EF520DV is a rigid Shore D compound - substantially harder than the Shore A range, for load-bearing parts that must hold their shape. Supplied as a natural filled grade optimised for extrusion, it pairs the soft-touch feel of rubber with the clean, fast processing of a thermoplastic - no curing, fully re-meltable scrap.
The grade delivers a tensile strength of 18.5 MPa, elongation at break of >750%, and a specific gravity of 1.108. Its low melt flow (MFI 1.3 g/10 min at 190°C) provides the melt strength needed for stable profile and sheet extrusion. UV Stabilized · Heat Stabilized · Silky Touch.
This is a SEBS-based compound. SEBS is the hydrogenated form of SBS: removing the double bonds from the mid-block gives it substantially better resistance to UV, heat and oxidation, which is why it is the usual choice for parts that see sunlight, warm service or a long design life.
At 2.7 g/10 min (230°C/2.16 kg) it sits at the stiffer end of the extrusion range, holding profile geometry well between the die and the cooling line. Its specific gravity of 1.108 reflects the mineral filler loading, which is what buys the dimensional stability and cost position of a filled grade.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Rigid extruded profiles and structural trim
- Load-bearing components requiring shape retention
- Semi-rigid housings, edging and protective sections
- Construction profiles, gaskets and weatherstripping
- Consumer products, soft-touch overmoulds and grips
PROCESSING
- Suited to profile, sheet and tube extrusion lines with conventional single-screw setups.
- Filled formulation tuned for cost-efficiency and dimensional stability.
- Heat-stabilised: the additive package is intended to limit degradation during processing and repeated re-melting of regrind.
- UV-stabilised for components exposed to sunlight. Real service life depends on exposure, colour and section thickness, so qualify an outdoor part against its actual duty cycle.
- Silky-touch surface: formulated for a low-friction, non-tacky feel on visible and hand-contact surfaces.
- SEBS-based: the hydrogenated backbone gives better UV, thermal and oxidative stability than an SBS compound.
- Colour-matchable and re-processable - production scrap can be re-melted and reused.
