What is Farrprene?
- Farrprene is Farr Polychem's range of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds. Each grade pairs the soft-touch feel and flexibility of rubber with the clean, fast processing of a thermoplastic - no curing step, and production scrap can be re-melted and reused.
What hardness range is available?
- The Farrprene catalogue spans 15 to 93 Shore A, from ultra-soft gel-like compounds for cushioning and vibration damping through to near-rigid grades that retain residual flexibility and impact resistance.
What is the difference between injection and extrusion grades?
- Injection grades use a higher melt flow to fill thin-wall and complex moulds with short cycle times, while extrusion grades use a lower melt flow for the melt strength needed in stable profile, sheet and tube extrusion. The grade code prefix indicates the intended process - I for injection-moulding, E for extrusion, and IE for grades suited to both.
Are Farrprene compounds recyclable?
- Yes. As thermoplastics, Farrprene compounds are fully re-meltable - they require no curing, and production scrap and sprues can be reground and reprocessed without a separate vulcanisation step.
Can grades be colour-matched?
- Yes. Unfilled grades offer the cleanest surface finish and colourability, and grades can be colour-matched to a target on request. Standard catalogue appearances are natural or translucent.
How do I request a sample or technical data sheet (TDS)?
- Use the contact page to request technical data or free samples. Share your application requirements - target hardness, process and performance - and our team will recommend a grade or develop a tailored formulation.
